After breakfast, our destination would be the small village called Song Phoung in the west of Hanoi around 17 km away from Hanoi Old Quarters. We start our tour with a local host who would be waiting for us there. First visit will be to the local food market which is historic as it originally started in 16th century. It is famous for traditional items. Local people come to the market with all kind of trades and products. It is a colorful market which operates under the canopy of an old tree. Adjacent to the market are the vast vegetable farms. The vegetation includes cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes, green peas, Chinese peas and corn. It also include fruits like oranges, papaya and more. The tour allows you to experience the local farming along with farmers. The next stop would be a visit to a local family and learn about traditional cooking and taste the rich cuisine including a traditional Troi cake. The tour let you learn about the lifestyle by talking to people and exploring the surroundings over tea. After lunch, Dong Ngac village is our next destination which is 20 km away. There we see the ancient communal houses, historic architecture some of which are built in the shape of dragon. The 300 years old houses belong to the Do family or Nguyen family who were given house by the King.
